Looking for love

Nobody, when creating a profile for a dating website, writes, “I’m looking for someone popular.” People are much more likely to write, “I’m looking for someone honest.”

And yet, every day we’re tempted to pick popularity over honesty. Every time we gossip about someone else we’re choosing the love of popularity over the love of honesty.

Honesty is a higher love than popularity. That’s intuitive, and yet we don’t act like it is.

Love is a choice. There is nowhere to look for it.
