On going home for break

“Instead of wondering when your next vacation is, maybe you should set up a life you don’t need to escape from.” ~ Seth Godin

You’re excited to go home. I get that.

You’re excited to break the routine, to relax, and to live life on your terms for a while. I get that, too. It’s stressful to do what you’re told for so long.

But maybe, just maybe, what you’re told might be a good thing to do. It was a good idea when your parents told you you needed to go to the dentist, or study for your algebra test, and it will be a good idea when they tell you to open a retirement account and get health insurance.

Just don’t get used to it. Adults don’t just do what they’re told — they create change. They wake up motivated, whether they’re on vacation or not.

We need your gifts. If you cultivate a life of escapism, we’ll never get them.

Enjoy Thanksgiving break.
